On Boosting Sales

So . . . . many of you have read Power Plays – and many of you have told me you enjoyed it very much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I don’t ever get tired of hearing about your favourite characters or your favourite parts.

If you DID enjoy Power Plays, would you mind terribly doing a review on the Chapters or Amazon websites? There are no reviews currently, and I don’t feel that I should be writing my own. (Yes, yes, I know I did that several times for my own plays, but what can you do when you are ignored by the media?!)

I’ve sold (and given away) close to 300 copies of Power Plays to date. I sold over a hundred copies at the launch – if you include the books I didn’t have on hand for people who paid up in advance.

Henders Drugs in Estevan has sold the first 25 copies I gave them, and is working on the second 25.

MaryAnne Veroba bought 10 books to hand out to people associated with SHA and Hockey Canada. Wow!!!

A prof at the U of S who teaches a literature class on hockey is interested in reading Power Plays. Wouldn’t that be incredible if he added it to his syllabus?

Who knew??????!!!!!

I’m not sure how many Coteau has sold through their office, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s more than the five copies available in most Chapters and McNally-Robinson stores.

Tomorrow I’m off to Weyburn Junior High and the Weyburn Public Library to do readings. In between, I might slip up to Regina to pick up more books. After that I plan to take a little hiatus from the author circuit until after parent-teacher interviews on November 23rd.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the Mercury and Lifestyles have to say about the launch in Estevan. It was such a memorable evening. My aunt and uncle drove down from Saskatoon – and so many of you took time out of your busy lives to come celebrate with me. It means a great deal. Thank you all from the very bottom of my heart. If you missed the event, my previous blog was a copy of my speech. A speech I don’t imagine I will ever give again.

And yes, I think every day about what would go in a sequel.

However, I am also thinking about my idea for a novel about stock car racing – this time with a male protagonist.  I have the plot all mapped out. I just have to learn a great deal more about the racing itself. I’m not very comfortable with the lingo, but my nephew Lee, who races hobby stocks, should be able to help me out.

I’ll be sure to let you know how quickly the next 90 go!!
