On Three Nominations
October 15, 2008 by maureen.ulrich.
Okay, I know I’m supposed to be writing a blog about a trip to the UK, but today has been a red-letter day and I’ll tell you why.Power Plays has received THREE (count ‘em THREE) nominations for the Saskatchewan Book Awards to be held in Regina on November 29. Keep in mind that it wasn’t all that long ago (in Maureen years) that I was attending the awards as an observer. I rubbed elbows with nominated authors and wondered what it might be like to BE a published author, much less a nominee. I was still on the other side of the glass, looking in. I can scarcely believe that I am going to be sitting at a table at the 2008 awards, waiting to hear if my name is called. It is absolutely going to be one of those moments that will take my breath away. So . . . the nominations are for Young Adult (good thing this category was created for 2008), First Book (at 50 am I too old to be considered a rookie?), and Reader’s Choice (thank goodness for Facebook groups).Wow. Simply — wow.
